The Brooklyn Avenue School PTA (Parent Teacher Association) plays a vital role in enriching the educational experience and fostering a strong community at our school. Our core purpose is to support students, families, and staff through various initiatives including: 

• Advocating for the needs of students and ensuring their voices are heard, as well as facilitating crucial communication between parents, teachers, and the school administration to keep everyone informed and connected. 

• Actively working to build a vibrant school community by organizing events and activities that bring families together.

• Fundraising to secure additional resources and programs that directly benefit students.

• Recruiting and coordinating parent volunteers to assist with countless school activities.

Rooted in a legacy of community advocacy dating back to the school's historic foundations, the mission of the Brooklyn Avenue School PTA is to support and speak on behalf of every student. Officially established as a dedicated, independent unit in 1957, we strive to enrich the educational experience, champion student programs, and foster a tight-knit partnership between families and educators—ensuring that the bright minds of Valley Stream continue to soar.

As a modern 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the BAS PTA bridges the gap between basic school budgets and the robust, well-rounded education our children deserve. Our current initiatives directly fund critical student field trips, modern STEM learning tools, cultural arts assemblies, and community-building events like our annual Fall Festival. By backing our active, award-winning volunteer network, our partners help preserve a historic neighborhood legacy while directly empowering the next generation of local leaders, thinkers, and creators.
