Meet The Board

Erica Leap - President

What inspired you to step up and join the PTA Board this year?

I decided to continue in the President role this year because there is so much more we want to accomplish for our students and families. A successful PTA relies completely on community participation, and my goal this year is to keep our vital programs running while encouraging more familes to get involved. By staying on, I hope to provide steady leadership & help foster a culture where many hands make light work.

What is one goal you have for our school community this year?

My goal this year is sustainable community engagement - growing our volunteer base so every parent can easily find a meaningful way to help our programs thrive.

Which school or PTA event are you most excited for this year?

My favorite events are always the ones that happen at the beginning of the school year, particularly the Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat.

If you could have any superpower to help you run a PTA event, what would it be?

A Jedi mind trick that instantly recruits and schedules volunteers! I could only imagine the bigger and better events that we could bring to Brooklyn Avenue if we were able to have more parent engagement.

What grades are your children in?

I have twin boys in the Fourth Grade.

Robin Davson - VP of Programing

What inspired you to step up and join the PTA Board this year?

I saw a need for stronger parent involvement and wanted to help make a positive difference in our school community.

What is one goal you have for our school community this year?

My goal is to strengthen community collaboration by bringing families, staff and the school closer together.

Which school or PTA event are you most excited for this year?

I'm most excited about meeting new families and building connections within our school community. I'm also excited to be involved and help make it a great year for BAS!

If you could have any superpower to help you run a PTA event, what would it be?

I would choose a magic wand to make everything come together smoothly and make every event fun and memorable.

What grades are your children in?

My children are in 5th grade this year.

Annette Matthew - VP 0f Ways & Means

What inspired you to step up and join the PTA Board this year?

Hoping to meet and help new parents navigate our school system.

What is one goal you have for our school community this year?

Fundraising!

Which school or PTA event are you most excited for this year?

Fall Festival.

If you could have any superpower to help you run a PTA event, what would it be?

The super power of DJ'ing!

What grades are your children in?

Fourth Grade.

What inspired you to step up and join the PTA Board this year?

I am always willing to help and assist for the benefit of the children.

What is one goal you have for our school community this year?

To make it another fun filled memorable year for all.

Which school or PTA event are you most excited for this year?

All of them.

If you could have any superpower to help you run a PTA event, what would it be?

The ability to predict the weather!

What grades are your children in?

I have two in BAS grades 2nd and 4th and one over at South starting 7th.

What inspired you to step up and join the PTA Board this year?

Seeing the happy students enjoy the activities we assist in giving them.

What is one goal you have for our school community this year?

Achieve a 3-pete for the Green Acres School Cents 1st Place Award.

Which school or PTA event are you most excited for this year?

In my opinion, we have the BEST BBQ of our district!

If you could have any superpower to help you run a PTA event, what would it be?

If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to freeze time so I could pause the clock right in the middle of a busy setup, effortlessly organize every volunteer shift, double-check all the details, and catch my breath without feeling rushed!

What grades are your children in?

I have a fourth grader at BAS and a 7th grader at South HS.

Shallon Isaacs - Parent Delegate

What inspired you to step up and join the PTA Board this year?

I like to see the different events come to life. I also like to see my son's face when he sees meat the school helping out.

What is one goal you have for our school community this year?

My goal this year is to be more active at school events.

Which school or PTA event are you most excited for this year?

I'm most excited for the Fall Festival!

If you could have any superpower to help you run a PTA event, what would it be?

My superpower would be the ability to teleport and be in more than one place at a time.

What grades are your children in?

My son is going into Fifth Grade.

Katie Redmon - Parent Delegate

What inspired you to step up and join the PTA Board this year?

I decided to join the board because I love to photograph PTA events. I figured I should probably go to some of the monthly PTA meetings. A good way (perhaps the only way) to hold myself to that goal was to join the Board, where attendance is more or less a requirement.

What is one goal you have for our school community this year?

My goal for our school community is that all of our families get to know at least one family this year that they don't already know. One of the best things about BAS is the incredible range of life experiences families bring to the school. We only learn those stories when we talk to one another.

Which school or PTA event are you most excited for this year?

I'm looking forward to the End of the Year BBQ. Any time kids are together outside without screens, I consider it a win!

If you could have any superpower to help you run a PTA event, what would it be?

I would figure out how to work the sound system in the gym.

What grades are your children in?

My son Quinn is in 4th grade. My daughter Charley is in 2nd grade.
